COMPANION PLUS

Writer/Director/Editor: Aarushi Shrivastav

A short dark experimental piece thatt takes place in a dark room as a woman spirals into obsession, fed by an AI service that soothes her heartbreak for a price. This film is about the emotional cost of our need to know everything.

This film attempts to take a dive into my exploration of our growing addiction to certainty and emotional validation through technology. By exaggerating a world where even our breakdowns are monetized, I want to expose how commodified comfort feeds our worst impulses and how our need for answers might be what's driving us mad.

CHUNK OF AIR

WRITER/DIRECTOR/EDITOR/DOP: AARUSHI SHRIVASTAV

This is a short experimental film exploring the loneliness and beauty of living in a city. I was interested in the idea of the temporariness of relationships and people in your life which comes with living in a city but then you look outside your window and realize how small you are in the bigger picture and noise of the city.

This short experimental piece with the help of found footage highlights colorism in India and how media reinforced the "fair is beautiful" mindset. Growing up, I feared tanning and tried every remedy to avoid it, only to realize how problematic that thinking was. I am brown, and tanning is normal yet the belief is still so deeply ingrained that I should be fair to look pretty. Media distorts perceptions, making young girls like me feel insecure over something we shouldn’t. This film shows that applying a face mask is more than just mixing ingredients. It carries a deeper story.
